## QuestionChemistryClass 11

Why are lone pair$$-$$lone pair repulsions stronger than the lone pair$$-$$bond pair repulsion?

Lone pairs are localised on a single atom whereas bond pairs are shared between two atoms. Lone pair electrons in a molecule occupy more space as compared to bonding pair electrons so lone pair causes more repulsion between them. This is the reason that lone pair-lone pair repulsions stronger than the lone pair-bond pair repulsion.
