Which would require a greater force accelerating a \(2 \,kg\) mass at \(5\,ms^{-2}\) or a \(4\, kg\) mass at \(2\,ms^{-2}?\)

Answer

As per question- \(m_{1}=2\,kg\,,a_{1}=5\,ms^{-2}\)
and \(m_{2}=4\,kg\,,a_{2}=2\,ms^{-2}\)
As, force, \(F=ma\)
In case \(I\)
\(F_1=2\times 5=10\,N\)
In case \(II\)
\(F_2=4\times 2=8\,N\)
Hence, \(F_1\gt F_2\)
So, for a mass of \(2 \,kg\) and acceleration of \(5\,ms^{-2}\) it requires greater force.
