Given: \(x\) and \(y\) are in inverse proportion.
So, \(x\propto \frac{1}{y}\)
\(\Rightarrow\) \(x=\frac{k}{y}\) where, \(k\) is a constant.
\(\Rightarrow\) \(xy=k\)
\(\Rightarrow\) \(xy=\text{constant}\)
So, the given statement is false.
