Answer

(i) Plants need a cell wall to resist the excessive pressure of water absorbed by the cell which can burst the cell if pressure is not checked by cell walls.
(ii) The cell wall is rigid in structure so it maintains the shape of the cell & gives strength to the plants.
(iii) The cell wall protects the cell from the external environment by providing a barrier.
