Question and Answer

Question

Is the following factor in factor form, completely expanded form or in partially expanded form?
\((x+2)(x-1)+7(x+1)\).

Answer

Given factor: \((x+2)(x-1)+7(x+1)\).
Since, In \((x+2)(x-1)+7(x+1)\), terms \((x+2)\) and \((x-1)\) are in product with each other and are in parenthesis and term \(7(x+1)\) is in addition to the result of product of \((x+2)\) and \((x-1)\).
\(\therefore (x+2)(x-1)+7(x+1)\) is in partially expanded form.
