Question and Answer

If in a triangle, square of one side is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides. What is the angle opposite to the longest side?

(A) \(60 ^o\)
(B) \(30^o\)
(C) \(90^o\)
(D) \(120^o\)

Answer

Answer: C
The sides of the triangle are h, p and b.
As per the given question
\(h^2=p^2+b^2\) ....(Pythagoras Theorem)
So, the longest sideis the hypotenuse.
In a right-angled triangle, angle opposite to hypotenuse is \(90^0\).
\(\therefore\)Required angle is \(90^0\).
So, option C is correct.
