For circuits used for transporting electric power, a low power factor implies large power loss in transmission. Explain.

Answer

Power \(=VI\mathit{\cos\varphi }\)
So as to have low power factor we must have current flowing through the circuit as we know power is directly proportional to the square of current so power loss will increase.
